Tanzania, education

Ikombe

€15 a month can change one child’s future.

  • a village on the shore of Lake Malawi, in southern Tanzania
  • the way in is mainly by water
  • 75 children preparing for primary school
  • one preschool class that has to be kept running

We want to secure the running of the preschool class, from the teachers’ pay to the children’s daily meals.

We are looking for regular supporters

If support is secured for all 75 children

€1,125a month

€15 a month is the planned contribution towards one child. But anyone can help as much as they are able, because even a small regular gift matters a great deal.

That is what running the whole preschool class costs. It is the sum of 75 contributions of €15, not an amount collected.

I want to help

A great future begins even at the end of the road

On the shore of Lake Malawi, in the south of Tanzania, lies the small village of Ikombe. A place where life runs quite differently from the one we are used to.

The way into the village is mainly by water, across Lake Malawi. The other way is a long detour on foot paths. That isolation shapes the daily life of local families, the supply of goods and the reach of basic services.

People here live very simply and modestly. Their lives are closely bound to the lake, to fishing, to the land and to daily work.

And it is here that children grow up with the same dreams as ours. They want to learn, to see the world, to find their place in life. Their first big step is preparing for primary school.

What we want to secure

Our aim is to support the preschool education of about 75 children who are preparing to start primary school.

Regular giving is what keeps the class running:

  • the teachers’ pay
  • school supplies
  • classroom equipment
  • hygiene
  • the children’s daily meals

Among these children there may be a future teacher, a doctor, a nurse, or someone who will one day help their own community.

We are looking for regular supporters

Every euro helps. Every regular gift brings stability.

  1. €5 a month

about the price of two coffees

Even this helps to secure food, exercise books and pencils.

  2. €10 a month

    regular help

Towards school supplies, meals and daily care.

Behind these numbers are real children. Their smiles, their curiosity, their first letters and their dreams of the future.

Perhaps your €5 a month is what helps a child take its first big step towards an education.

Why our help matters

Tanzania is among the least developed countries in the world. According to international data about half of its people live in extreme income poverty. In many rural communities access to education, to drinking water or to electricity is a daily challenge.

And education can change the lives of whole generations.
